Tire Care Program 

Tires cannot be disposed of in landfills, however they are collected at the landfills for transport to a certified tire recycling facility.

Drop-off rates for tires are as follows:  

Merced County Landfill Rates:

$3 each passenger tire / light truck tire
$7 each truck tire (standard sizes)
$85 each tractor tire
$325 each loader tire
$645 each earthmover tire

Rims preferably are to be removed. Tires with rims $5 additional each.

NOTE:
It is unlawful to transport more than nine tires without a waste tire hauler certificate. Highway Patrol can issue a citation for transporting tires over the limit without a waste tire hauler certificate.
