ALL TIME HIGH
Monday, October 15th kicked off the fifth annual event, that ran through Friday, November 15, 2002.
This
much-anticipated event assists youth groups to raise funds by
recycling California Refund Value (CRV) glass, aluminum and plastic
beverage containers. Optional
items to be recycled included cardboard, newspaper and milk jugs.
This year participants recycled a total of 15,679.83 pounds, almost 8 tons! This is the largest amount ever recycled during the event. The groups earned a total of $3760.22 to go toward there civic activities. Participants will be honored on February 20, 2003 at a ceremony that takes place during a Governing Board meeting at the Merced County Administration Building. An ice cream social for the participants will follow the ceremony.
Thanks
to generous donations from corporate sponsors, over $1,000 in cash and
prizes will be awarded to participating groups.
There will be additional prizes awarded for first, second and third
places for the most recycled and for the top fundraiser.
