ALL TIME HIGH

Monday, October 15th kicked off the fifth annual event, that ran through Friday, November 15, 2002.

This much-anticipated event assists youth groups to raise funds by recycling California Refund Value (CRV) glass, aluminum and plastic beverage containers.  Optional items to be recycled included cardboard, newspaper and milk jugs.

This year participants recycled a total of 15,679.83 pounds, almost 8 tons! This is the largest amount ever recycled during the event. The groups earned a total of $3760.22 to go toward there civic activities. Participants will be honored on February 20, 2003 at a ceremony that takes place during a Governing Board meeting at the Merced County Administration Building. An ice cream social for the participants will follow the ceremony.

Thanks to generous donations from corporate sponsors, over $1,000 in cash and prizes will be awarded to participating groups.  There will be additional prizes awarded for first, second and third places for the most recycled and for the top fundraiser. Sponsors for the Fifth Annual Youth Recycle Drive and Fundraiser are: Turlock Recycling, Merced Mall, Target, Merced County Department of Public Works, MCAG, the Cities and County of Merced. Funds will be matched by Turlock Recycling!!
